Jade Reyes Reid
Internal Liaison Intern
Hi everyone! My name is Jade Reyes-Reid, and I’m a third-year double majoring in Linguistics and Psychology, and Political Science, with law school on the horizon and aspirations of becoming an immigration attorney. I’m proudly connected to Panamá and El Salvador. In my free time, I love photography and music—while I don’t play any instruments myself, I have a deep appreciation for those who do, so you can usually find me at concerts or any live music event.This year in Única, I’m excited to help bring more fun and educational events that strengthen and connect the Central American community on campus. I also want to share our culture through dance and food events, highlighting the traditions our countries are known for. If you ever see me around, don’t hesitate to say hi—I love meeting new people!

My name is Ashley Mateo I am a political science major with a Central Americans studies minor! I am connected to the country of Honduras and I am looking forward to connecting with other Central Americans across campus!


Raymond Alvarado
Political Educador Intern
I am Raymond Alvarado, a third-year student majoring in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology with minors in Central American Studies and Biomedical Research. I am from El Salvador. I enjoy watching movies and reading books and m y favorite place to go to is the beach. I'm excited to organize events that provide our community with valuable information on current political issues in Central America. I’m a proud Salvadoreña and I love getting creative—whether it’s making crafts, personalizing gifts, or finding new DIY projects to try. This year in UNICA, I’m excited to help create more spaces where Central American students can come together, celebrate our cultures, and build community.
Angela Perez
Cultural Commissioner Intern
Hi! My name is Angela Perez I am a 2nd year Psychology major. I was born and raised in LA, but my parents are from Guatemala and Mexico. I love to go thrifting, try new coffee spots, and go to concerts. This year in UNICA, I am excited to meet other Central American students at UCLA and build community through our Counterspaces Event in May! I hope everyone is able to join and come together to celebrate our experiences through art.
